UM Wolves RFC continue to make their presence felt in the Malta Rugby Championship, with four of their standout players earning nominations for the January Player of the Month awards.

Two players from the Men’s team, Connor Muir and Axel Jeffers, have been shortlisted for the Men’s accolade, while Raisa Farrugia and Rebekka Bartolo represent the Women’s team in contention for the Women’s award.

Their nominations come after a set of exceptional performances, which saw both teams win every single game on offer in the month of January.

Connor Muir, who is now the club record point scorer, once again showcased his rugby abilities, racking up an impressive 46 points over the month. His attacking contributions included two tries and two assists, while his kicking prowess saw him convert 15 conversions and two penalties.

His leadership on the pitch was recognised with a Man of the Match performance, making him a key figure in Wolves’ January success.

Joining him in the nominations is winger Axel Jeffers, who continued his prolific try-scoring form with three more to his name in January.

His attacking instincts were complemented by a strong defensive effort, boasting a 100% tackling success rate. Jeffers’ consistency on both sides of the ball has made him a vital asset in Wolves’ campaign.

Meanwhile, in the Women’s division, team captain Raisa Farrugia led by example with some important performances, scoring five tries in four matches as the Wolves enjoyed an unbeaten month.

Scrum-half Rebekka Bartolo also played a crucial role in the team’s flawless run, delivering precision with 12 successful conversions out of 15. Her accuracy in front of goal has provided the Wolves with a consistent edge in tight contests, proving invaluable throughout January.
